How a heart shaped stone can help reduce scar tissue.

My Gua Sha Stone

My Gua Sha Stone

Gau Sha is a traditional Chinese medicine technique using jade or rose quarts stones. It is incredibly relaxing and therapeutic for the skin. This technique increases blood flow and lymphatic drainage leaving your skin glowing!

Gua means scrape.

Sha means sand.

I have been doing it on myself a couple times a week to help with this scar on my nose, from the removal of squamous cell carcinoma.

I have been hearing about it for a while and I finally got some Gau Sha facial stones.

I truly was like, “Another trend, blah, blah, blah…”

Then, I started to get a little more curious about it.

I took a webinar! And, then started practicing it on myself and was impressed with the results. I always practice on myself first before I treat my clients.

Especially with the scar I have from the skin cancer being removed. Now I am all about it and I am diving in deep.

It makes my skin feel and look more vibrant.

Some benefits of regular Gua Sha treatments:

1. Can help break up scar tissue

2. It seems to be helping with the dark circles under my eyes.

3. Can help with redness.

4. Relieves tension in the muscles of the face.

5. Boosts blood circulation.

6. Increases lymphatic drainage.

7. Can aide in creating an optimal environment for the connective tissue of the face.

8. Improves overall skin texture.

Come in and try it!

As always, Live in Beauty.

baby its cold outside

Sunday is one of my days I get to go for long bike rides. So when The weather app said it was only 34 degrees outside, I hesitated to commit to the ride. I was thinking about my skin and not the quality of time that comes with riding my bike. The cold does dehydrate your skin and I am all ready on the dry side. I thought to myself, I am an esthetician, I know how to handle this.

I started with a Vitamin C serum from Osmosis. It helps increase the effectiveness of your sunscreen. Next up, my hydropeptide sunscreen. After that, I applied a layer of Aquaphor. Yes, I did just say that it. Aquaphor, is a petrolatum based product ( if you wanted to you could use non-petroleum based health food store product). In this situation, that’s exactly what I was looking for and had on hand. Something that was going to create a barrier to help protect my skin from the cold wind and keep my own moisture balance in my epidermis. It worked ! My face felt comfortable throughout my entire ride and didn’t get wind burned or chapped at all.

You can do this for many outdoor cold weather sports, especially skiing and snowboarding. Just make sure you cleanse your skin well afterwards. I used and would recommend the Osmosis purify cleansing gel. It worked beautifully to remove the Aquaphor and my face and body couldn’t be any happier with today’s outdoor activities!
